Opinions and Chaos

Opinions and the chaos that follows is quite overwhelming: How to cope with the nonsense in these times. What does the Oracle of the Land say?

I’ve been having a meltdown in the last few days. I should really stay off FaceBook! Usually, I handle things well but it wear’s on you after a while. All the outrageous things, your friends, coworkers, family, and people believe are shocking.

The problem I’ve been having is the untrue opinions being spread around and the overwhelming chaos that follows. We all believe we are believing what is true and judge others for believing in falsehoods. Does it matter if things are true anymore?

There is fake news out there, real true news, and plain outright propaganda purposely persuading us with untruths to believe a certain way for a political agenda.

Who do we believe? That is the big question.

Everyone feels they should express their opinions and that they are valid no matter if they are based on facts or not. All this back and forth chatter causes much anxiety and hopelessness. Sometimes, on rare occasions, if you are self-aware, you will think about it for days and weeks and begin to change your mind. It has happened to me on a few occasions. That is good. But, we have to wonder about others. It doesn’t seem like they are changing their opinions when the facts are presented at all.

And then you begin to panic and have no hope for the human race, the future, the planet, etc. What will happen to the human race if we all just believe anything, any opinion being thrown around? How does one cope with that chaos? We might just as well end the human race right now.

I texted a good friend this morning about my crisis and as usual, she had unique spiritual insights that get right to the root of the problem.

She asked me what it meant to me if people are not hearing the truth. In other words, why am I concerned if other people choose to not believe the truth? What is it to me?

Ha!

All things lead back to us. If things are trigging us, something in us needs to be looked at; otherwise, it would not bother us.

What it means to me if you don’t believe the truth:

There has to be one universal truth and if we all choose to believe lies and have our own opinions that are not based on facts, then there is utter chaos in the world. There is no point in anything whatsoever. No point in living in society and we should just hole ourselves up in our house and live in our heads. Or sleep, let’s just sleep and wake me up when this is over.

Is that opinion true?

So as I was rambling on to her about why it’s so important, nature called to me. Nature always has the answers. What does nature have to say about this problem of untrue opinions and all this chaos?

My friend reminded me that sometimes Nature is pretty chaotic and reality can seem warped and different than in peaceful times.

So, I thought about the chaos in nature. I am aware that chaos is necessary. But what does chaos have to do with opinions and truth?

I know nature is never stagnant for too long and don’t get too comfortable. Being stagnant causes us to get too comfortable, complacent, and basically we fall asleep.

What Purpose Does Chaos Serve?

Chaos shakes things upside down and sideways. It shakes out our secrets and long-held secret beliefs. You find out what your family and friends really think. Issues in society come to the forefront. This all causes us emotional torment. Things are extremely unpleasant and tensions arise with our interactions with others. We all can see this happening now for the last 5 years or more.

These untruths, lies, propaganda, and all our opinions that we insist are valid are so very chaotic. Are opinions valid if they are based on nothing? I keep hearing how you shouldn’t respond to posts and that they will never change their mind. But some do, I have.

This can be good. Yes, it can be overwhelming. It triggers us and we should find out why. We think this is all a bad thing and what good can come of all of this?

But, what does this chaos cause us to do?

Hopefully, we begin to figure out how we stand on certain issues. What are our values and are they based on truth like actual facts?

So, the question is are we going to examine ourselves and our role in society and live our truth? Are we going to live in accordance with and in alignment with those values? Do we want our roles in life to reflect our truth? Do your opinions and thoughts reflect the value of caring for the earth and other humans? Is that important to you? Do you realize that your political affiliation, support, and ideals, have a direct impact on other people, not just you?

So, it is about us and then not about us. It’s about us and our relationship with others and society. Is nature shaking us up for this purpose?

If we don’t have chaos what then? Things stay the same, we stay asleep and unmoved. There is no change and truth no longer matters.

So chaos is necessary for our growth. It stretches our capacity to think bigger and open our hearts up wider to accept all.

And then the issue comes up of history repeating itself and us humans never learning anything. What is the point?

And nature told me:

“Everything keeps going around and around so that every generation can have its own experiences and lessons. We have to or we will never grow and never learn. Every generation must have conflict and have something to solve. This causes a contrast between stuff that is wanted and unwanted. Through this, we must find our cause, our truth, our values, our reason for making the world a better place.”

Expressing Opinions

For the past 3 weeks or so I’ve been having a problem with my mouth, teeth, and gums. My teeth ached for a week and then just stopped and I was good for another week. Then my gums and teeth felt infected. I went to the dentist and no infection, no obvious reason why my teeth hurt.

But, I know that for every ailment there is a spiritual cause. Problems with the mouth and teeth are ruled by the Throat Chakra. I know I have problems with my throat chakra because of my coughing and choking on air.

The throat chakra has to do with expressing ourselves and I have a big problem with that. I can’t seem to get my words out, they don’t make sense, I lose my thoughts mid-sentence. Speaking in any public setting has been an anxiety-induced ordeal. These last few years I’ve been working on that. Working on talking in public and expressing myself, pushing myself in that way.

I’ve had several blogs that go nowhere. I started this blog in May and I thought I was finally expressing myself. Although I’ve had the inkling that I’m not talking about the right subjects. This post is an example of the right subject I am to talk about. I’ve been avoiding expressing my opinion publically. I mean why does the world need another opinion?

Then my mouth problems started and I knew what it was really about. I was holding myself back on a lot of things and struggling with my expressing my opinions among others’ opinions. What did they matter in this sea of chatter? Useless chatter?

My friend made me think about why opinions matter. Why did MY opinion matter? And so I had to think about it. Outside in nature.

And nature told me:

“Of course, we all have opinions otherwise we have no thoughts, we won’t have passion, we might as well be a zombie. Our opinions are bursting to come up out of us. That is why there are so many. Our thoughts and opinions are a type of creation. A living creation. They spring forth from our heads out our throats and into other’s ears. Others express their opinion in return. It can be a fact or not. But, it causes us to think and ponder and say WTF!! And argue and examine things. From this, our opinions and thoughts can change and hopefully for the better.”

A New Way of Thinking

In conclusion, we must talk about our issues and express our opinions with others. True or not. Hopefully, you will be on the side of truth and spread knowledge based on facts. It can be alarming when there is so much chaos that comes from this. But, that’s how things come to the light and get exposed. Do not fear it. Talk about it. Talk about why things trigger you and you will begin to work things out about yourself and the triggers will lessen in intensity.

What kind of person do you want to be? One who is reasonable and looks for the facts? Or one who will let fear take over and believe in anything that comes along no matter how outrageous it sounds and insist you are right based on no facts? Do you want to support government policies that hurt people?

I want to be on the side of truth, love, and compassionate caring in my personal life and have that reflect toward others. These are my values and truth and I must live it and express it. I must shine my light with others; whatever that may be.

Things will be alright. History tells us so. As the earth recycles, we recycle also. This is our playground and how we learn and grow as a spiritual being. Eventually, we will calm down and learn from this and value the truth once again. Out of these opinions, untruths, and chaos, small changes are happening already.

And yes, there are some who are in the direct line of fire who are being hurt. Let’s stand up for them and support them. They are our fellow humans and deserve our compassion.

How do you cope with all this chatter of untrue opinions and this chaos?

You have a very insightful friend. Opinions are just that… During these times negative opinions surface more frequently because people are scared, and they want everyone to see why. I have always been patient with others because I understand, but I have had to unfriend and even block some people.. our emotional health is so important and some days I am SO grateful for that block key!❤

Some days I have to stay away from social media because of the nastiness that abounds there. I have occasionally expressed an opinion and then been attacked for it. There are a lot of people out there just stirring the pot.

Very perceptive observations here. Thank you.

There are not many absolute, objective truths to be had. And, being human, everything we hear, see, and experience is filtered through our unique sensibilities.

For instance, having studied virology, I know (as does the WHO) that many of the guidelines espoused about physical distancing, mask wearing, glove wearing, etc. are meaningless, but the cultural Zeitgeist at this moment in time requires us to follow the political guidance given.

i too don’t thrive well in chaos. 2020 is presenting me with many lessons of dealing with the chaos that the Universe is presenting right now. i should be an expert by the end of the year 🙂

I guard my social media feed constantly. Muting, un-following, snoozing and blocking people. Those are my joy buttons. I prefer a happy feed of my own making. Life is tough enough. Thanks for sharing.

I LOVE THIS! I recently have been getting out into the woods as much as I can, it seems to ground me and just takes the stress away. Spirit always talks to me when I’m near water and anytime I am calm and willing to listen. Nature is such a powerful magic, my kids are so much better in the woods and after a long walk or hike amoung the trees. Everyone is so judgemental and social media and the news will depress me for days. I just can’t subject myslef to it for long periods of time. Thank you for this piece, it is very insightful!!

Social media is so triggering for me. But, I liked what you said here: “All things lead back to us. If things are triggering us, something in us needs to be looked at; otherwise, it would not bother us.” And the important thing I try to remind myself when I start spiraling after looking at social media or the news is that I’m in control of what I spend my time reading, viewing, and engaging with. It’s always a struggle, but if I can remain in control, and not let their negativity break me down, I consider that a win. Hang in there!

Thanks. For the most part, I’m good. But, I have got to spend less time there. We are in control, indeed. We must remember that.

Great post! It reminds me that we need to get somewhat comfortable with uncertainty and chaos…because that is part of what makes life interesting!

The world is both our playground and our school. We learn and grow here. I don’t read other people’s opinions on social media. Because I don’t those kinds of posts disappear from my feed. I mostly see blogging related posts.

You do have your truth to share and it is needed. Keep offering your voice!
